Chiropractic FAQs

Do you have any questions about chiropractic care and how it can help you?

What Is A Chiropractor?

Chiropractors use hands-on care to improve spine and brain health, without the use of medication or surgery.

What can Chiropractic Care help with?

People commonly seek Chiropractic care for things like back pain, neck pain or headaches. Some people also seek Chiropractic care, not for any particular health problem or injury, but to prevent spinal conditions and look after themselves proactively.

Is Chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care has an excellent safety record in Australia, and is considered a low-risk form of alternative healthcare. Australian Chiropractors are regulated by AHPRA and must adhere to specific codes of conduct. As with any healthcare intervention, the potential for adverse events may exist, however we perform extensive testing to minimize the risk of any adverse event taking place under our care.

Do I need X-rays?

X-rays may be helpful to determine the potential cause of a problem and to ensure that it’s safe to provide care. Your practitioner will determine whether an X-ray may be required. Pregnant women and young children aren’t advised to have X-rays taken.

Do I need a medical referral to see a Chiropractor?

No. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners, meaning that you can receive Chiropractic care without a referral from a GP.

How long does it take to feel better?

This varies for each person, and is dependent on your previous health history and your individual circumstances. Some people may heal quickly, and some slowly, but all healing takes time. The insights gained from our testing can help us establish how long it may take for you to start feeling better.

Can I adjust myself?

This is something we wouldn’t recommend and could be quite unsafe. Even Dr. Mick sees another Chiropractor for his Chiropractic care.

Can I see a Chiropractor if I am pregnant?

Yes. Most studies estimate that 50% of pregnant women will experience low back pain at some stage during their pregnancy. Some recent research has demonstrated that Chiropractic care can improve pelvic floor function, which might play an important role for pregnant women.
We always tailor our care to suit the changing physiology of our pregnant clients.

Is Chiropractic care safe for Children?

Yes, Chiropractic care for children is generally considered safe. There are more than a million paediatric visits to Chiropractors in Australia each year. Some parents might be hesitant to seek Chiropractic care for their child, believing that their child may receive similar care to that of an adult. However, our care is always modified to suit the size and development of the child.

Will I need to go to a Chiropractor forever?

This is entirely up to you, as you get to choose how long you receive Chiropractic care.

Some people choose to cease having care once their initial symptoms have improved.

However, much like exercising and eating well, which done regularly yield more sustainable results, some people may choose to have a regular checkup to look after their health proactively.
